Planting

Sow outdoors in very early spring. Carrots prefer full sun and loose, evenly moist soil amended with plenty of organic matter. Before planting, loosen the soil to a depth of 8" to help to the roots grow straight. Thin to the recommended spacing when seedlings have three to five leaves.

Harvest

Loosen the soil with a garden fork before harvesting. Cut off the green tops 1/4-1/2" from the top of the carrot, and rinse and dry the root before storage.
