I read the instructions and made a number of measurements. Its important to understand how this instrument works in advance. So reading the instructions is very important. Understanding that the soil to be measured needs to be wet is number one. Using a wet rag to clean the contact area after each measurement is number two. If the instrument stays at '7' then the conditions for measuring are incorrect. The instrument measurements are very consistent with proper soil conditions.
